In a major infrastructure update that promises to ease travel between two of North India’s key cities, the distance between Delhi and Jaipur is set to reduce by 20 kilometers, thanks to a newly developed highway alignment. This change comes as part of the Delhi–Jaipur Expressway (NH-48) upgrade and realignment project, which aims to make road travel faster, safer, and more efficient.
The new route, developed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), features access-controlled expressways, bypasses to reduce congestion, and smoother curves for improved driving comfort. Once fully operational, this reduced distance is expected to cut travel time by nearly 45 minutes to an hour, depending on traffic and speed limits.
This project is part of India’s broader push to modernize its highway network under the Bharatmala Pariyojana, focusing on improved connectivity between major urban and economic hubs. The reduced distance and better infrastructure are likely to benefit daily commuters, tourists, and logistics companies alike.
With this realignment nearing completion, travelers can soon expect a quicker and more convenient journey between the capital city of Delhi and the Pink City, Jaipur—bringing both destinations even closer than before.
